The fertile Drava valley has always been the home of good, locally produced food. Indeed, the food processing company of Podravka Inc. has long been using local produce as the basis of its internationally recognised brands. Traditional cuisine includes turkey with 'mlinci', which is a traditional pasta typically eaten during the holidays. Also worth looking for is Bregovska pita ( the 'Bregi village pie'), which unites many of the excellent ingredients to be found in the region - apples, walnuts, raisins, poppy seeds, honey and fresh cottage cheese - into a delicious dessert.
